Who says you can’t re-do your kitchen days before your family comes for Christmas? Not me. This is how it looked before. I used that gorgeous Taupe/Robin fabric to make these fake roman shades. Then I moved the dining room set into the kitchen. I’m turning the dining room into an office/library…because in a year and a half of living there, we.have.never. eaten in there. This set is a little more traditional, but I love the way it looks. The paint color you ask? Don’t. I have no idea. I mixed light khaki with some dark gray and added some chocolate color and came out with this.

I had left over board and batten from my Master bedroom re-do and slapped it up. The wall you see is the largest wall in the whole entire kitchen…so it didn’t take much. I somehow think I’m going to slipcover 2 club chairs before Thursday, but I think I’d rather make cookies with my girlies. Maybe the slipcover fairy will come? What did you re-do last minute?
It looks great! I love the faux roman shades 🙂
I love it, you are so brave and creative with your paint colors! Also I love the window treatments, are those new, too? Super cute!
I SO want some of that fabric!! Your shades turned out gorgeous!
Love the Board and Batten! Looks great!
Love everything about this – I love how black always adds a touch of drama and modern flair; and I'm a sucker for a zebra stripe!
I just bought that fabric to make some pillows! I love how it looks! It's gorgeous!
Oh I love it! It all looks great. Love your shades. I do the same thing with paint. I joke all of the time that I have a paint store upstairs, and I just mix until I come up with something that I like. If I like the results a lot, I take it to my local Sherwin Williams and have them match and make more of what I have mixed together lol. Love that zebra print too.
The room looks amazing. We did the same thing about a year ago – gave up the biggest room which is the dining room and I took it as the studio space. It is now used every day instead of maybe 10 days a year. Of course we just moved the dining room to the front sitting room which never got used either- so it sits. Trying to work out a way to make an eat in area at the far end of the kitchen so we can get rid of the “dining room” all together. Just not a dining room kind of family.

That looks soooo good! I love everything!
can i have your “old” dining room now that you don't need it? i LOVE the casual beachy feel it had. 🙂
the “new” dining room looks beautiful and so perfect for the holidays.
amazing work on both!
I LOVE your dining set. It's exactly the color I've love mine to be someday (it's currently honey colored)…but I doubt that someday will be before Christmas. 🙁 Until then it's all mismatched wood but man is that a pretty little table you got there!
love it! Great colors in that kitchen.
Love the look, and I have been eyeing that taupe robin fabric at fabric.com for months! This past weekend I decided to reuoholster some wing back chairs just in time for the holidays! Isn't that how everyone spends the last weekend before Christmas? I posted them in my blog today. Check them out!
totally amazing ~ love it!
those faux roman shades look great and so does the board and batten.
you must work well under pressure, cause i would of cracked and not finished one project. : )
You are such a whiz at just whipping things up! The room looks absolutely wonderful!
cheryl, apparently i do work well under pressure…i love having a deadline…i.guess.
Gorgeousness!!! I just love it all. I also love how you said you “slapped up” the board and batten! It would take me weeks to get up the nerve then weeks to get it all done. 🙂
Love the roman shades too.
OMG, I love your blog! You have such wonderful ideas. You make me want to slipcover everything and have a craft/wine party too:) I am now following as well. Your breakfast area is lovely. Happy Holidays!

I love your fabric choice and your blog is amazing!
I quite liked your old kitchen…loved the burlap swags (but then I love everything burlap)….the redo is very nice a perhaps even looks a bit cozier. Wish I could transform one of my rooms into a dedicated crafts room. My DREAM!!!
Your bedroom is amazing…what a difference! Can't wait to have a house with board and batten like this!
