Yes…I know…coming from the professed zipper hater, I am quickly falling head over heels in love with this stuff.
Zipper Upholstery Tape! I wanted to try it for the wing chair I’m working on. It’s really not as scary as I had thought. And they give super easy directions…right on the back. I purchased this at Hancock’s, but I heard JoAnn’s also has it.

I just have to finish the skirt and I’ll be done. Then I need to finish the other 47 projects I’ve started. I’ve been asked about the fabric. It says “Chris Stone California 2005” on the binding. I purchased 5 yds as a remnant. There was no more….sorry. I looked online and couldn’t find any. If you do, let us know! What project can you be determined to finish this week?
I didn't know there WAS such a thing! What do you do to add a stop to it? That really is clever, and the fabric for your chair is fab! It's going to be great! I am working on a bathroom remodel! I hope I am as successful as it looks like YOU are!

Oh my wow! That looks amazing, it certainly gives it a nice snug fit.
i LOVE the snug fit! it looks so tailored! selfishly, i wish you'd made this discovery and added it to your ebook 3 weeks ago, so that i could have added this to my sofa slip… which, now that you mention it, is THE project i'm determined to finish this week [or at least get a significant chunk done… esp if i'm going to change my mind and add zippers…]
seriously, though… if you end up *loving* the zips on your slips, could you please do a how-to post for nervous nellies like myself? 🙂
thanks for your blog… i love it! 🙂
Looking good. I'm too scared to try zippers yet. But I'm going to have to figure something out if I want to eventually slipcover my sectional sofa. Your awesome…keep inspiring me 🙂
zipper tape…hmm, never heard of that before. The wing chair is coming along nicely and the print looks fabulous on it.
ann…
i will post how I sewed in a zipper! I can't promise it's the professional seamstress way…but it'll ZIP! just let me work out some kinks.
wow, cool info. can't wait for your zipper tutorial…i need it!!
You are great!!! I'm determined to finish my 'refinishing project on my hutch'. It is going to be two-toned to better match the furniture I have, with what is already in the house (that isn't ours!) Hoping you have lots of success finishing your projects.
Hey girl, I love your blog and am a follower. I wanted you to know I featured you on my blog today for your slip-cover fabulousness. If you could answer any of my questions and worries about taking the plunge into white slip-covers that would be so nice! I'm really anxious to get some furniture and want some personal feedback before I do. I would really appreciate it, thank you!
.heather.
There's a great article on the Sew4Home website on a simple technique for putting in zippers – sew/baste a regular 1/2″ seam, put the zipper on the seam, sew it down, then rip out the basting stitches. It's SUPER easy – http://sew4home.com/tips-resources/sewing-tips-tricks/431-basic-zipper-installation
I purchased some about a month ago, but I haven't used it yet. I found mine at Hancock Fabrics, too.
So glad I found you blog ! I just did 8 cushions with zippers, after sewing for 20 years I finially LOVE zippers…. I buy them by the roll.
