I finished this beauty! I adore how it turned out and like I said…this was my first attempt at making a slip from a print. It was also my first attempt at sewing with upholstery zippers. Not that hard…just a little patience. I will do a post on sewing a zipper…so don’t fret your pretty little selves.
I made this slipcover to put in a local fabric store…that wants me to teach a basic slipcover class. So stay tuned. I’ll let you know how it pans out. Although, I want to keep this chair all to myself. I found that birdhouse at a yard sale on the side of the road last Friday…for a mere $5. I had to restrain myself from jumping out of the car and sprinting over to it.
Hello Beautiful – that slipcover is gorgeous! I wish I were local so I could come attend your slipcover class. Nice
Love your slipcovers, trying to build up enough courage and matellase bedspreads to cover my couch with them.
Yes it is too early for Halloween decorations, not fall but Halloween is such a fun Holiday I try to teach my children that it is MUCH less important than Christmas. One way is to not decorate as much as I'd like and limiting it to 1 WEEK. It is hard since there are so many fun things to do with Halloween.
Beautiful chair – you are a wonder! No, it's not too early for decorations! {I say that because I put mine up tis weekend!} I say go for it!
It looks beautiful! I've got a wing chair that could use a new look. Love the zipper tape idea – I've never seen that before. When I made the covers for my sofa and chair I just used one really big zipper on one back corner which was just enough to ease the cover on after washing.
It's gorgeous! I am amazed. I am desperately in need of a slipcover for our ugly sectional and don't even know how to sew 🙁
Your cover looks smashing!
Your cover looks smashing!
Kristi, that looks amazing as always! And, I love the polka dot pillow – too cute.
How pretty. I love the print, you do such a great job on slipcovers.
love love love it. I can't wait for that zipper tutorial. You always make it seem so simple so that I have confidence to even try to attempt it. I too would so be at your class if I lived near you.
love that little table too. so cute.
So pretty with the pleat and the print.
wish I could go to your slipcover class, but I am not local.
oh my freakin' gosh- i am coming in the middle of the night and stealing that chair. too bad allie will give me away. lol
Girl, you never cease to amaze me with your slipcover skills!
We are already on our second bag of candy corn, so I don't think it's too early for Halloween!
It looks fabulous! I had to do a double take to see that it actually was a slip cover. No wonder the store wants you to teach a class. You're Good!
That looks awesome!

Love it love it!!!!
I badly need a friend in my life who can sew slipcovers!
::lower lip trembles::
I want me a slipcover or two!!
Love your blog – keep up the great work. I'm envying/coveting/jealous of all the pretty slipcovers!
This is beautiful! You are so good at what you do. Thanks for the encouragement to take the white slipcover plunge. I think I'm almost there. I just still want to know what gets out stains the best because my Clorox and bluing did not work. Good luck with your slip class, I can't wait to read about it. And yes, you can so decorate for Halloween…it's your party!
.heather.
You did an amazing job-not that I would have expected any less from you! You have amazing talent and patience! 🙂 I wish I was close enough to take the slipcover class, I'm wanting to do some slipcovers for my set but I'm a fearful nut! 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration and the hope you bring to my 'one day' dream! 🙂
The chair looks great. I'm not a fan of pleats but you might sway me yet to give them a try. Zipper as opposed to what? I made one slip that is frequently washed with velcro and it gets all knrly after a while. I prefer zippers. I can't do buttons.
Are you going to leave it on through the fall/winter? Or do you prefer the dark color?
Oh it turned out great! And I am just finishing (finally) my print wing chair slip. Daughter's wedding set my crafts on a back burner for a while…back in the seat now!

Robyn and I just got on to drool over that slip you made for the wing chair. It is exquisite…love everything about it…the material, the piping, the pleated skirt. You are amazing!!
I love this new slip! Your work is amazing and has inspired me – thanks! I've been sewing draperies and bedding for years but always turned down slipcover work. Now I've made a few for my home and am getting ready to start on one with a friend. I noticed you were planning to do a zipper post and wondered if I might offer a suggestion. You may already do this, but if you baste the seam where you want your zipper first, then pin your zipper to the wrong side and stitch it, when you take the basting out, the flap things meet exactly in the middle as a cover. Does that make any sense? Such professional-sounding terms (like flap things). Good luck teaching your class! Great new fall decorations too – thanks!
