Nester is having a Price my $pace Party…so here’s mine!
1) Thrift store sofa with home made slipcover – $150. Thrift store throw pillows with new covers sewn on – $10. End table was FREE from my mom.
2) Craig’s List Chair with home made slipcover – $50. End table by armchair $40 from an estate sale. Thrift store lamp – $4. Eiffel Tower Tassel – trade w/Nester. Basket filled w/magazines under table from IKEA $13. Thrift store throw pillow covered with a man’s linen shirt that I embroidered – $6
3) Thrift store storage ottoman – $20 (I knew this was from IKEA and that it was a slipcover…no one would go near it because it was filthy…but I KNEW…I could rip it off and wash it). Tray from IKEA (can’t remember price). Hand blown glass bowl from southern living…(I went to one of the party’s where you have to buy at least one item…so I got this. I think it was – $30. yuck. Jute Rug – $125 from Lowe’s.
4) Thrift store chair – $10…spray painted black and covered cushions with zebra fabric. Magazine Holder – $4. Recovered pillow – $6
5) Black wood bookcase – $100. Originally purchased new at an unfinished wood store. Have been painted white and now black. I have 2 of these. Hard to find sturdy, used wood book shelves. I hate paying retail for new items. Items on bookshelf from thrift store, IKEA, inherited.
6) Beagle – from local animal shelter – PRICELESS!
Absolutely beautiful! I love it!
What a lovely room! I love how you took what others would consider “trash” and made it beautiful. You have a very good eye for that. Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous! Love LOVE love your slipcovers…beautiful! Your style is what I'm going for with a little bit more beachy feel. What color did you use on the walls?
pretty room! i especially like the backyard view. had to enlarge photo to see beagle… my favorite of all!
Yes, please! What color are the walls??? You have such an eye for the PERFECT color.
Thanks
Andrea
“Home made slip cover”–do you mean YOU made the slip covers? They look wonderful!!
I love where you say that you knew the ottoman was from Ikea and no one else would touch it because it was filthy! Washing/cleaning is an option, right? : )
Aubree,
the paint color is called “light khaki” from Lowe's seaside collection.
Richella, YES, I did make my own lazy girl slipcovers. There's a tutorial over there to the right somewhere.
You're so right! The Beagle is priceless. Went back and looked and I had two dogs in mine! I like the serene look to your room. As though I could go sit in that #2 white chair with a book and the light shining in behind me from the windows. And just relax and enjoy!
Brenda
I didn't even see your sweet little beagle until I read about it. So cute! Shelter dogs are the best.
I'm seriously envious of your white slipcovers. Someday I will have white furniture. 🙂
Wonderful job , I love your bargain pieces.
I love your home and your blog!
This is your space?! This is GORGEOUS! You have incredible taste! And, yes,the little cutie patootie beagle is priceless.
Oh, I LOVE a little zebra thrown in!

You wouldnt happen to have instructions for your sofa slipcover would you? I would love to cover mine!
LOVE that you did your own slipcovers. Everything is so fresh and pretty.
Love the white – looks so comfy and welcoming.
Love your precious beagle!! And…of course the room! You did a great job! My slip coverlady finally has the fabric and time to do mine–long story short, it's been since Jan. since I bought those thrift store chairs!! Thanks for sharing!!
Hugs,
Susan
thanks! is that the same color you used in your old home's living room??
I love this room so much! Thanks for stopping by my blog with your slipcover suggestion. I had to laugh because I've had your slipcover tutorial bookmarked for months. I've already asked for a sewing machine for Christmas, so maybe I'll work up enough courage to give it a try. I'm not great at measuring (I'm one of those people who throw in whatever they want when they cook) so I'm a little afraid that I'm too sloppy to make a good looking slipcover.
Are we like sisters from another life?? Our love for black & white AND you have a Beagle…we have a Beagle!!!
Too cute. I need you to go shopping with me. You don't live near TN do ya???
Love the room and your rug. Want to trade rugs?
XOXO-
Aubree,
In my old home…the color of the living room is called “white sage.” It is discontinued, but you can ask the paint guy and he can look it up.
Gorgeous Room!! Thanks for sharing!! xoxo
Love the white furniture!!
Beautiful room! I love the fresh bright white furniture mixed with the black pieces.
Okay, so I was enjoying your blog, reading along…until I saw the Twilight trailer. That did it. I had to sign up to follow you right away!!! 🙂 We must be kindred spirits. 😉
I love your room, by the way. Thank you so much for commenting on mine, and I am so checking out your slip cover tutorial! 🙂
Your slipcovers are incredible!! I can't believe it was a DIY! Lovely room!
love it. i've got to check out that slipcover diy

You can live at mine if I can live at yours! Love the couch slipcovers.
Love your room. I have a chair that was given to me that I plan on slipcovering by way of your tutorial. I have the fabric but just haven't done it yet. I think that I'm nervous that I'll ruin perfectly good fabric!
I love your living room! If you hadn't said “home made slipcover” I would have NEVER known it! Beautiful!
Beautiful room…you did a wonderful job!
Have a lovely day 🙂

(Treasure the Moment)
Beautiful room…looks so clean and fresh.
Love your space!! I have really been drooling over your white slipcoveres. Such a clean, bright, light cottage look.
Can you tell me about life with kids and white slipcovers? I love them, but I am scared of them! There is always going to be someone who runs from their chocolate chip cookie snack to the sofa with chocofingers. Are they truly washable back to white? Do they get discolored/yellowish, and if so, how can you restore that?
Karen,
I have kids with chocolate fingers, a husband who sits on it after basketball with his sweaty bum and a dog with dirty paws. I wash them in hot water with detergent and clorox…once or twice every couple of weeks. I made these slipcovers about…4 years ago. so far so good! good luck!
When can you come and do my house??? I love this room! I definately have to learn to make my own slip covers. Got a huge old blue sofa that is super comfy but nothing will fit!
What a comfy living room! I love the white slipcovers! And the candle sticks on the mantel. Everything looks fabulous! Thank you for sharing.
Blessings,
Marie

Super cute! I need to come over and see your house now that you're getting settled in. Invite me! I'll bring my French press and some fresh-ground beans!
Aw! What a cutiepatooty beagle! I can do the very same thing you did with my own living room! Isn't it rewarding to see a beautiful room without the astronomical price tag!? I even have a beautiful beagle (Precious) sleeping on a pillow in my living room. Hehe. They are by far the best dogs I've ever had…super smart and cute in our cottage decor! hehe. Thanks for sharing! *HUGS*
Im starting to get addicted to your blog. I love this post where you break things down like this. 🙂
