On my way to The Cloth Barn in Goldsboro last week, I briefly stopped at a little barn on the side of the road to peruse some antiques and used furniture. I was outside and spied this statue of an angel. She was covered in cobwebs and obviously dirty from red clay. One of her wings were broke off. I had an immediate reaction to her and thought…”She’s been in the battle and she’s still standing.”
I continued around the store and came back to her. SHE was coming home with me! I gingerly asked the guy how much? He said he would give her to me for $15. I only had $12 cash. He let me have her. I proudly display her in my living room. A reminder that even when our wings get broken or we fall down and get dirty or stained…we can still get back up and start anew. I need the visual reminder daily.
Not everyone gets her, but that’s ok. She’s a reminder to me to get back up.
She's the perfect metaphor! Love it.
She is a great inspiration.
I totally get her and she is a beautiful reminder !!
Super story. Super statue. She's perfect.
