This is an Ikea ektorp ottoman that had the white slipcover. My ikea slipcover has shrunk so much, it barely fits. This is why you need to wash your fabric before cutting it. Now, it has two new outfits. Remember the coral beachy one? I made the green one while demonstrating the slipcover process at the Hickory Furniture Festival this past weekend. It’s scrap fabric I picked up while at Gina’s last weekend. There was not enough to match the fabric pattern up on the sides…but it’s for me and I’m fine with it not being perfect. This is why you will need extra fabric if you ever slip with a print especially with a large print like this. I love it though!
We had a great time at the Hickory Furniture Festival…demonstrating slipcovers. I love showing people how you can fashion new clothes for your furniture. If you have a sentimental chair that you want to tie in with some new furniture…slipcovers are a great way to go!
I had a great time getting to know Emily and Linda. Once again, I left feeling encouraged and inspired by these women. They are incredibly generous and wise in the ways of slipcovers. I look forward to doing it again next year.
Looks like you had a great time! The new green fabric is so pretty!
Happy to hear you enjoyed your time in Hickory. Sounds like fun! Most people would never notice the unmatched pattern, only pros like you.
