If you’re like me, you get your pumpkins and mums ASAP! Go to your local mom and pop nursery! Support your local farmer! I know when we buy a pumpkin or mum from a grocery store…we are still supporting a farmer, but it feels more authentic when you go to the actual farm.
Your kids can help you pick out the best biggest most orange pumpkin ever…and they get to see it in all it’s glorious surroundings! Our local nursery has homemade ice cream…an even better reason to buy from them! And…you just might see The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! Do you have a special pumpkin patch you go to?
We went to a local pumpkin farm this weekend to get the makings for a fall display. There's something special about visiting the farm that you just don't get at Home Depot.
I love their ice cream… one summer they had key lime pie ice cream and I've been hooked ever since!
We love going to Porter Farms! The kids can't wait to pick out their pumpkins to decorate for the pumpkin decorating contest.
I am a subscriber to your blog, and today when your post popped up, I was surprised to see Porter Farms. Is that the Porter's on hwy 42? I live 10 minutes from there. Sometimes the bloggy world is not so big after all! 🙂
We're in central NC, but west of the Triangle and we like to go to Jane Iseley's farms in Burlington. She's got pumpkins and mums aplenty! Love seeing that Got to Be NC sign, too. 🙂
I just went to a local nursery today and got 2 beautiful mums and a bale of hay…should have seen hubby's face when he saw that giant thing at the front door! Noah had his first Fall photos taken at Porter Farms 🙂 We're taking the kidds to a local church Saturday to pick out pumpkins, but truth be told…I'm pretty sure I love looking for the perfect ones to display more than they do.
