I received this email from Jamie...
Here it is! Thanks so much… there is NO WAY I could have done it without you. Your instructions gave me the confidence I needed to pursue this :o)
Next I am going to attempt my sectional. It has a chase attached to one end so it isn’t symmetrical. Do you have any pointers??? I don’t think I’ll be able to just pin it inside out because the whole thing will get flipped, right?
Thanks again. You changed my living room and a little bit of my life :o)
Blessings,
jamie
Now to Jamie and everyone else…yes! you can slipcover a sectional and you will have to flip the fabric…so it’s a little tricky, but it can be done. Pin from the inside. Take my advice and invite some sewing friends over, call it a party and provide lunch…like Nester did. Now, Jamie…did you make that pillow? Inquiring minds want to know! Pillow tutorial here at H is for Handmade.
Women every where…take courage and make your furniture your’s…like Jamie! It can be done!
Wow! That looks GREAT!!! I am in the middle of slipping my sectional with a chaise on one end, and I've never even attempted anything like this. My parents are helping me a TON!!! The assymetry is tricky, but doable with planning and a LOT of thought. Our couch seperates and there are parts that mirror eachother, (like the front of the arm, the back outside corner, and the parts where the parts come together at the back) so we've used that to pin inside-out where we can which has helped a ton! I didn't think we'd be able to do this but with time and patience–and your e-book that got us started 🙂 we are almost done! I can't wait to send you a picture of the finished product.
It's beautiful! I bought the e-book last week and I'm making 2 slipcovers now. I have a bunch of furniture I want to do!!!
Great job on the chair!
This really looks great! I just ordered slipcovers for my sofa and chair. I am also taking a sewing class in February. I would love to be able to make my own slipcovers someday.

Jamie's chair looks awesome. I'd love to attempt a slipcover like that but I'd really like to know her sewing experience to see if a beginner like myself could handle it. Beautiful job!
jamie did a great job and she even did the piping too!
@upscale downhome, I thought I was terrible at sewing! I am definitely a beginner… it just took some patience. I looked at a lot of youtube “how to” videos when I was feeling unsure. Go for it!
Thanks for the encouragement, everyone!
How did you know I was sitting on my couch, staring at a half finished slipcover, just trying to talk myself into getting out my supplies to finish? I keep telling myself that if I finish, I'll be glad I did. I should've started with the easier piece (the couch). The crazy lines on this chair are driving me batty!
Meanwhile…that ottoman has me dreaming…as if I need another project! LOL! Thanks for the inspiration!
oh, I have a brown micro suede sectional that would be a DREAM with a white slip cover… do i dare?!??
I recently moved to Florence , SC and have a terrible time finding good thrifted items. Everything is disgustingly gross at the thrift store, because it's a very very poor and slightly ghetto town! I know raleigh is only 3 hours away, and was wondering if you knew of any GREAT areas for thrifting.
Oh how I love that slipcover and what a great job you did – but I also love that pillow adorning it! Thanks for the shout out! It all looks amazing and I am in awe of your talent!
