I have the chicken pox. I was diagnosed over a week ago. They’re almost gone and from what I understand, I had a mild case. I think that was due to VitaMama‘s recipe of supplements called a viral shock. I never had them as a child. I look like a pimply faced teenager right now. I’m slathering mederma on to prevent scarring. I’ve been quarantined to my home. I had to sneak into my Aunt Pearl’s funeral so I wouldn’t contaminate anyone. I was able to go to the viewing early before anyone got there…so I could see her. Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers for me and my family and for eating your dessert’s FIRST! You are all so sweet.
Some things I’ve learned about having the chicken pox:
- Tell someone. and they will stay at about a 5 ft radius from you…or even further.
- Your children learn to fend for themselves. She cooks.
- You, CAN, in fact sleep 36 consecutive hours. Who knew?
- Your house can actually look like a landfill when you get up.
- You can watch 3 seasons of a sitcom in about 2 days…streaming on netflix.
- Your bathtub actually works as a bathtub and not just a laundry basket.
- You really miss snuggling and kissing your family all over!
- Your husband will have an even greater appreciation for how you run the household.
- Your dog will miss walks with you.
- Your air conditioner upstairs will go out. just lucky like that.
- Your husband wonders why you haven’t had a nervous breakdown yet. {I did…in the shower, but not in public}.
- You finally sew that bag your daughter’s been begging you for.
- When you have tickets to go see John Mayer and Train, you have to sell them because even though your friends love you, they.do.not.want.chicken pox.
- Your friends are the BEST EVER! Not only do they come to Aunt Pearl’s viewing and funeral…they cook dinners and bring sweet treats and new books for you to encourage you to get well.
Here’s to hoping you NEVER get chicken pox as an adult!
Husband got them in his mid-30s. Our 3-year-old never got them though, he got shingles. I would have much rather he got chicken pox. I have never had them. I hope leaving a comment doesn't infect me from your's, lol! I hope you get back on your feet soon.
I got them when I was 24 and had been teaching for 3 years in an elem. school without getting them. This was prior to the vaccine. I feel your pain…it was YUCKY…I don't think I ever felt so slimy and dirty.
You poor thing, that stinks! Hope you are back to yourself again soon!
Oh gosh, glad to hear you are on the mend. I have never had them either. But I had a blood test done when my two oldest got it and they said I was immune. Lets hope that stays that way!
I remember having chicken pox….not fun. And I hear it is way worse for an adult. UGH! Sorry! (Oh, and too funny comment about the bathtub and laundry!)
I MUST know: What sitcom did you watch for two straight days? Glad you are starting to feel better. Love you…hope you're up for Thu night…I'm not scared, I've had the pox. 😉
wow, it does have its benefits doesnt it?
I think I've had them twice. My Mom didnt know I had them as a child until she took my sister to the doctor with them and he said I was getting over them. I had like 3 spots.
But I think I might have had a second case of them in my mid 30's. Again, mild. Weird.
SOOO glad to hear that you are feeling better. Can't wait to see you Thursday night!
Ugh, I can so relate! Even though I was exposed to chicken pox several times as a child, I never got them. Once my daughter went to preschool, I kept asking her pediatrician when the vaccine would be out and he kept reassuring me I shouldn't worry because I probably had chicken pox as a kid and just “didn't remember.” ::rolling eyes:: My daughter got chicken pox in kindergarten and guess what? Two weeks to the day after her outbreak, I came down with them too! I was 34. Fortunately, I had a fairly mild case but even so, I remember running a high fever and feeling pretty lousy for a couple days.
Take care!
Ugh!! I never had the chicken pox as a kid, but got them at 24, just weeks after we moved into our first home. I was contagious for 3 full weeks and felt like I had the worst flu of my life for over a month. I hated not be able to get up and unpack boxes and enjoy our new home. Thankfully, though, I had several friends and a hubby who had already had chicken pox and they took good care of me! Here's to you, hoping that your case continues to be a mild one and you are 100% again soon!!
Oh you poor thing—I wish I was there to bake you some blueberry coffee cake! I hope you're back to normal soon but try to enjoy the slower pace.
love you dear,
edie
Ugh, you poor thing! I had them when I was younger. But my poor mom…we had just moved to Italy because my dad was in the military. My mom moved with 3 kids by herself because my dad was out to sea. We were living in a hotel until our house was ready and all 3 of us got the chicken pox. Another family that was staying in the hotel had let their kids go to the pool and everything with them so it started a whole domino effect of everyone getting them. I hope you are feeling better soon!
