My bedroom looks like a laundry room inside a bowl of green pea soup! Even the closet is painted green pea. I can’t stand it…it’s way too dark for my liking, but I’ve been living with it for a year now. So it’s time to do something and I’ve been gathering inspiration. I don’t want to spend any money. So I have come up with some ideas. First the inspiration:
My plan:
- Paint with paint I already have {Seagull Gray}.
- I got 2 doors for free from Habitat for Humanity…that I’m somehow going to make into a headboard.
- A friend is giving me a dresser and chest of drawers that I will probably paint or refinish.
- Re-paint TV armoire Gray or White {paint in garage}.
- Re-paint bedside dressers Gray or White {paint in garage}.
- Hang my beach pictures, that I’ve been collecting, over the bed.
I think that all I will need to buy is a couple of paint rollers and maybe some drawer knobs. I’m going for a beachy casual look. I can’t wait to get started! What have you been living with and putting off? Let’s do something about it!
Perfect! These are some of my own favorite inspiration photos of bedrooms. I love all your ideas, especially the doors turned into cool headboard one.
I just redid a little guestbathroom and can't believe how great it looks. Should have done it a million years ago. Good Luck! xo Lidy
Everything in my house–or so it seems. We've lived here for two years. I've painted two rooms. But even they are not “done”. I'm doing a bit more here and there when I can (which with five homeschooling children 10 and under, isn't often or much, lol)…but ugghhhh it is taking foreeevvverrrr….I really look forward to seeing your pictures! Most of my “issue” is time/energy, but I am really really hoping to have some of the rooms a bit more “finished” by the end of summer…
Love the chandy…I have one like that over my dinning room table! The door headboard sounds great! When I moved into my house a few yrs. back I wanted an old iron antique gate as a headboard…tried over at the fairgrounds but could not find one wide enough to fit a king sized bed. I finally settled for an iron headboad from an online site:0)(same look) Can not wait to see the finished room!!! Happy bedrooming! Robin
that sounds so great! i used our old bathroom door to create our headboard and i love it. it's the perfect length (hung horizontally on the wall) for our king size bed and all i had to do was add padding (i used layers of old blankets and just kept stapling away until i got a good thickness) and then covered with part of a quilt from target. now, you'd never know it started off as a super ugly bathroom door.
Love those inspiration photos! I also just did a post about my ugly dark green bedroom and how I'm planning a thrifty redo. I've already started painting! So fun! I can't wait to see how yours (and mine!) turns out!

Cant wait to see your finished room! Sounds lovely!
Your work is incredible, I can't wait to see what you come up with!
I've been putting off doing my hutch in my dining room. I want to make it a two-toned piece with light wood and either black or a very dark stain. I am very nervous to start b/c of my lack of skill!!!! I have a few pieces I can experiment with first, but finding the nerve to start is where I am presently!! 🙂
Ooooh! It sounds like it will be a lovely fresh room! I can't wait to see it! I finally tackled the makeover of my red armoire which I blogged about today and I feel SO much better that the red is gone! : )
Loving those pictures…peaceful 🙂
I'm honored you would be inspired by my master bedroom! Good luck to you…can't wait to see how it turns out! 🙂
