Am I the only one who is completely paralyzed by the amount of projects I have. We moved into this house about 8 months ago…and I have about 1059 projects to do. Over the summer…i just relaxed and did a little painting of the bottom half of my home…like the bathroom and the living room and the dining room. I haven’t even wanted to show you the kitchen because I freakin’ hate the countertops…and then I think of Haiti and I’m grateful for my ugly counters. I can be soooo ungrateful. I want to be grateful.
And then I found a new blog…knock off wood and I just added 47 more projects to my list. I’m hoping the Valentines’ Fairy will bring me a table saw. Is there such a thing as a Valentine’s Fairy? Anyway…I’m hoping he or she will also bring me a Keurig Coffee Maker also. I mean really is it too much to ask? I’ll need the caffeine to cut the wood to finish every project! just sayin’. I need a ladder to finish painting my stairway wall. It is ghettofied! For Real. I’m going to make a list for each room…as if I’m getting ready to sell it.
This is my list for the kitchen of things I want to do:
Kitchen:
-New countertops (not going to happen for awhile)
-Paint table
-Paint chairs and recover
-Paint & install chandelier
-window treatments
-paint bar stools
-Paint the back of the cabinets with the glass doors.
I’ve been paralyzed by the kitchen because I keep thinking I’ll wake up one morning and have new counter tops. No more. I will work with them, not against them. Can you paint Corian?
Oh.my. That is 6 projects and I haven’t even left the kitchen…and I was thinking I had nothing to blog about! yikes! Don’t even get me started with the living room and it’s nasty carpet…needing to get new foam cushions for the couch and I want to re-do my slipcovers. Rip the carpet off the stairs and paint ’em. And I need to paint the upstairs…blah…blah…blah…woe is me. Cry me a river.

What a great giveaway! I could really use some graphic help on my blog.
Congrats Emily!
I'm so with you on being overwhelmed with so many projects! We moved into our new home last June. I don't even have a list, there's just way too many things to do. All I have to do is look around.
Love your Blog, your Etsy, your tutorials! You're a great inspiration!
Thanks.
Adrienne
Hi Kristi,
Thanks for coming by to see my blog. I've been reading through your chair covering projects. I LOVE the “easy” white slipcover! I have a turorial on a chair cushion with a zipper. They're soooo easy.
You asked where I got the blue fabric on my little chairs. I get most of my fabric from a woman at out flea market. I was looking in a Ballard Designs Jan,09 catalog today and saw many, many of my fabrics in there. She buys it all in NC! I don't know where. They sell her a large lot of it. She has to take the whole thing or nothing. She can't pick. But she sells for $4.00 per yard. It's $24.00 per yard in the catalog. I feel so lucky to have her.
I can't wait to follow your blog.

Overwhelmed? ..yes, me too. I have the majority of living space in my home finished…it's the kids bedrooms and bathrooms that I need to give some love and attention to.
On your countertops…I know you don't “love” them (or maybe even like them), but here's the thing..Corian is EXPENSIVE stuff and quite nice and durable. I cannot completely tell by looking at the picture you've shown, but they don't look too bad from my point of view. Are they blueish, grayish? Are your cabinets white? Maybe if you painted cabs black or white (if they aren't already)..you may like them. I thought I HATED my off white laminate countertops…after I redid my kitchen…new floors, painted walls and cabs…I can accept the laminate. Plus it was FREE to leave them as is and Corian and Granite (what I wanted) were SO darn expensive. I also love the look of Butcher Block countertops as well, maybe you could look into that if you have an IKEA nearby.
Ok, hope all of my pep talk worked for ya. I know the feeling of wanting to do something different, but not being able to do so. Believe me, I lived with yucky carpet in my KITCHEN for 4 years..ITWASNOTFUN AT ALL.
I'd love to help you out if you'd like, I like thinking of ways to redo rooms (on the cheap). Email me if you'd like…maybe with pics. of your kitchen.

Oh how I can relate! I love the bill board sign, that just about sums it up. Problem with me is I'll get started on projects, but never find time to finish them. The never ending list can be so overwhelming.
One thing I can soon cross off my list is help with my blog. Thank You!
::raises hand:: we bought a fixer upper, but even we were surprised by just how much fixing up there is. Every project takes longer than expected and there have been all sorts of curve balls thrown in.
So, I can certainly relate. I do enjoy working on making my house into the home I want, so slowly-slowly I'll get there.
Oh, and I love knock off wood too! I can't wait to try something from her site.
hey, at least you have Corian! It is about 1000x classier than Formica (which is what I have!) 🙂
I am with you! I have a notebook where I write all of my to-do's and idea lists and I have a couple of pages devoted to projects I want to do around our house. I add to it more often than I cross off!
Hi Kristi,
I've been going to her for 6 years. She said she's losing some of her suppliers because they'er going to China. If I lose her, I don't know what I'll do! But I called her today and she said he only sells to her. And as soon an she retires, he'll start selling to others. She said it's only a once a year thing. She said I can buy her business when she's done and she'll give me the names of all of the suppliers. HA! I don't know if I would want the responsibility. Well maybe I can get you what you need. I'm in SC.
Let me know.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when looking at the big picture. I totally get where you are coming from but if you pick one manageable thing or one part of one manageable thing every day and just start crossing things off you’ll feel so productive and motivated it will totally rejuvenate you! You can do it! 🙂
I have quite a bit of projects to finish both inside and outside of the house. Slowly, but surely I am getting it all done-challenging with a 17 month old and 4 year old at home with me full time. 😉 Oh, I faked my wood floors like yours in your previous home. My Hubby and I like it so much, we are going to do it in our bedroom.
I painted my kitchen countertops 7 yrs ago. They have lasted beautifully and certainly saved me a ton of money which I didn't have! They were Formica – don't know of that would do differntly than Corian.
Just the other day I came across this very cool thing. You might like to check it out. It is a way to resurface countertops! http://www.modernmasterstransformations.com
I'm so with you on this one! I was so over whelmed with projects that I just took a break! A lonnng break! The more I looked the more that needed done. 🙁 We built our home 21-22 years ago and basically NOTHING has been done to it except me and my sis painting some of the rooms. The outside has vinyl siding but the is SOME wood like the 4×4 posts on the carport and patios and the front porch with the banisters that are wood. ALL of that is in BAD need of a few coats of paint. I was reading a home decorating book the other night and made a list that was 1/2 page long with projects that needed to be done. Since that time I have thought of at LEAST that amount of more things that need doing. I NEED some helppppp. 😉
So you're not the only one trust me. 🙂 Wouldn't it be neat if we all could help each other. It would be soooooo much more fun WITH some help! 🙂
