I painted my front door

It doesn’t look dramatically different in these photos, but let me tell you what a black door will do to your house’s ego! The wood door was a little weather beaten and the shutters were a faded blue color. I used a quart of black satin paint from Lowes. Climbed out the top window…painted all the shutters and, somehow, managed not to fall off the roof. The door is wood…so I did a little sanding, then primed it and painted one coat of black satin using a paint brush. I use the “Purdy” paint brush…it’s a little bit more expensive, but worth it! I will probably do a second coat sometime because there are just a few spots that bother me. I LOVE MY DOOR! Now for some Christmas decorations.

I love the new look! I have an ugly “raw” metal door I need to paint, I'm just not sure what color to use. Black looks great!

Changing the color of the door did make a huge difference! It looks gorgeous and make the house look cohesive! Black was a GREAT choice!

Wow, that really does freshen things up! We have almost the same door 🙂 I have been thinking of giving it a workout with the almond oil stick, but maybe I'll paint it instead 🙂
I painted my front door black last year and I love it!! It just brings so much personality to the front of the house. YOurs looks great.
Oh, and I am also making your Christmas card holder, went to JoAnn's and bought that thick upholstery ribbon stuff this morning. Thanks for the great idea.
