Can I find the coffee in your home? You know…if I was a guest in your home…could I find all the fixins for making coffee? What if you’re still asleep and your guest gets up first and wants coffee? Can they find everything they need? I have done this…gotten up…found everything except the coffee filters…and had to wait for my host to get up. I’m a junkie and I know it. I need coffee like the air I breathe. Don’t judge.
Here’s a tip! This is what I’ve done. Put everything in one spot. Everything. Put your coffee in the cabinet over your coffee maker. Make sure your coffee cups, travel mugs, sugar and FILTERS are also in the same cabinet. My filters are behind the honey bear and the sugar. I also have tea and honey in the very same cabinet…just in case you’re my guest and not an addict to coffee…for some unbeknownst reason. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE…Don’t put your filter’s clear across the kitchen in your pantry behind the flour. Your guest will be irritable when you awake…that is unless you’ve made the coffee the night before. Then props to you! You may never get rid of your guest.
No paper filters here. Just a gold filter–everything else in the cupboard above the coffee maker…except for the creamer or “goo” as we call it here, that’s in the fridge! 🙂 Just in case you are ever our guest!
We have trouble making coffee, it is done so rarely in this house! But we are walking distance to a Starbucks and a Tim Hortons!
We have a coffee shelf in the cabinet above the coffee maker. Makes life easier to have it all there. But I have to admit, when we have company I always set the coffee up the night before and set the timer so it’s hot when we all wake up.
Seriously – were we separated at birth or something?!? I totally have the same yorkshire tea in my cupboard, right next to the rest of my tea variety, coffee, filters, and instant creamer (ick, but it’s what the man likes). The coffee maker is under the cabinet too. Although, all of my mugs are across the kitchen next to the sink – boo for me. >>-Meg 🙂
Well, all of my coffee supplies are over my coffee maker in a cute Longaberger (spelling) basket, we use a gold filter, and never have overnight guests. I do keep my actual coffee in the pantry though, and just this weekend my aunt was in total chaos in the kitchen with my son’s 16th bday party and she was hunting ALL over the coffee. You see, it’s in a very pretty air proof container. I may have to consider moving it now! Good advice…>~Misti
I have a coffee corner next to my stovetop. My coffee maker is on the counter and the filters, coffee, scoop and sweetener are in the drawer right below. (Don't look now b/c someone-Sweet Hubby, shhhh-spilled a bunch & I need to clean it up). I have more coffees and teas and cappuccino hot chocolate and Quick mixes in the cupboard below. I have no upper cabinets but this works great. I just bought the Coffee Mate French Vanilla creamer in the quart size pump jug and it is sitting in the corner next to the coffee maker. It doesn't have to be refrigerated! We are set! But just like Sheri, I make the pot the night before and set the timer if I have guests. Usually it's family and only my son-in-law partakes. >I have been trying to figure out a way to put a coffee bar in our bedroom. Maybe sometime down the road. I have the spot, but not the plumbing or cabinet yet. Oh, but I have plans!! >Gotta go refill my cup! >Blessings, Shay
You could indeed! 🙂 I keep everything in a basket that sits on the counter, next to the maker. Even filters.
oh you betcha – you can find it, but it’s not nearly as organized as yours. My cabinet is mixes with left over candy, knick knacks, and misc….why? I need me just a coffee cabinet – now! 🙂 >One week, my newly found friend. Can’t wait!
Such a great, thoughtful, idea
We have a coffee/tea station. Everything you need, even mugs. 😉
My coffee is always ready and waiting when I wake in the morning! You do not want to carry on a conversation with me before my coffee. But, if the first pot is gone (and it probably will be) and you would like to make another the filters are in the drawer right in front of the coffee pot and the coffee is in the canister right beside the coffee pot and the sugar dish, and well if you need cream you will need to reach in the fridge. >Off to fill my cup! >Maggie
We always make the coffee the night before…Our stuff however is spread all apart in our kitchen! I guess I should move things close to the coffee pot, it does make more sense!
This post confirms our instant friendship. My sister owns a coffee maker but may or may not be able to locate it. And definitely does not have coffee or cream. So last time I spent the night, stopped and got my own supplies and just left them there with her. We’ve nearly ‘split’ over her rejection of coffee. I don’t trust people who don’t drink coffee. They must be on crack or something!>>I love your cabinet and although I think mine is altogether, I’m gonna have to go give the once-over.
Forgot to say I love your new blog design!
I only have one visitor that comes to my house that drinks coffee. I get everything out for her the night before. Or my husband goes to Dunkin Donuts in the mornings to buy her the coffee.
LOVE the new design!!!>No one in my house drinks coffee, so I usually get up and get everything out for guests. The supplies aren’t stored conveniently since we rarely use them. >Great suggestions!
Your new blog design is PERFECT!!>>I dont take much for granted. I do however expect EVERYONE to NEED coffee in the morning. How could they not? I went camping recently with a dear friend. She brought coffee and coffee making supplies, just for me. IT WAS DECAF!! She didnt think it would matter. Wow huh?>>My home and kitchen are NOT organized AT ALL. But, right there by the coffee maker are the filters, coffee…etc. And the Tassimo and the Senseo and a cabinet of tea.
too funny… i can’t go to bed until the pot is ready for the morning…all i want to have to do in the morning is hit the button!
Thats a great suggestion!
We just recently did this! And the reason was not to make it easier for guests (although that's a GREAT reason!), but it was because, in the morning, my husband and I were walking circles around each other in the kitchen — getting coffee grinds in one cabinet, coffee mugs in another cabinet and travel mugs in yet another spot. He said that we needed to make our coffee more ergonomically friendly, ha! It has been a lot more convenient.

I love Edie's post about her Sister wars over coffee. My Sister doesn't drink coffee either. Usually when I go to visit her, I stop and buy my own supplies (she will always say, she has everything, but inevitably
she is missing something, usually my special Silk vanilla creamer)it's just not worth the waking up and not having my morning coffee. As a side note, I have the same coffee maker as you (in stainless) and I use the same glass canister for my coffee beans, which I keep on my counter.
