I’ve been so inspired by other’s porch re-do’s…that I decided it was time for my own! The huge front porch and my screened porch were why I loved this house! I thought I had taken some before pics of my porch, but I couldn’t find them. Anyhoo…this is what I’ve been up to this week. It is still a work in progress…always in progress!
My great-Aunt Pearl gave me this old glider…she is 93, so I’m sure she bought it brand new!? Anyway, she said I could have it. So, I washed as much dust, pollen and rust off as I could.
I spray-painted it with a gray primer.
Then painted it black with a toile cushion. Cushion still needs to be sewn! I just used a couple of pillows and pillow cases. Then I’ll sew the toile cushion slipcover over it…with ties…NO zipper!
This is just one end of the porch, I’m still working on the other end. I think I need a rug or some plants…definately some pillows! What do you think I need?
This happened.. just as soon as I got my re-do together on the porch.
I’m so glad Barbie and her friends approve…
It’s not worth having it you can’t use it! …Our lived in front porch!
Hey, Barbie’s got to park somewhere. Is she naked? ‘Cause she’s always streakin’ around at my house!
I love your porch re-do. My tiny front porch is bare and I’m determined to have it properly decorated before fall is over. Although yours if beautiful as is, a plant or two would add some life and additional color (as long as they don’t get in Barbie’s way).
The barbies are a great feature! I love the old metal glider. I’m thinking nice urns with wonderful green plants, lot’s and lot’s of pillows. Then some sweet tea, a good magazine and just glide the day away.
OOooh, I really like it. That is like the last frontear in our home. You have inspired me.
I HEART your blog! So glad I found another blogger like myself…trash queen, crafter, and amazing slipcover redoer! I will be adding you to my blogroll. Ohhh I have done several monogram projects myself…love yours. cherry
You have a granny glider?? I am sooo jealous!! Came here from Nester’s blog. Good slipcover tute!!>Elise
I LOVE it!!!!!! My great-grandparents raised me and we had the same glider except ours was green. Just seeing your pictures has brought me many great memories today. Thank you.
Wanted to ask, do you mind sharing that green paint color in your dining and living room? Thank you!!>Elise
Your porch looks great! I love the glider. A lot! If it’s good enough for Barbie you know it’s great. She has very discriminating taste. :o)
I love the glider! And I love toile. Barbie is one lucky girl.
I love your porch! I wished that mine were that big. And I love the glider! Great redo!
Your porch is lovely – looks like a delightful place to enjoy a cup of coffee. Love granny's glider, too! Love the idea of pillows & I think some potted mums would be pretty, too. 🙂
You lucky soul. What meaning that glider will always have to you. And the toille cushion…brilliant! : )>M.L.
Your porch looks fabulous. Love the glider and toile. I have 3 adult daughters but that Barbie town looked mighty familiar. I miss it now that they’re grown…Mimi
Elise,>The paint color is from ‘Lowes’…like Home Depot. The color has been discontinued, but they can still mix it. It’s called ‘white sage’.
You have the most amazing ideas!! I am so inspired! I am also in love with everything that you make! I am interested in placing an order….:) Lori
I love that it looks awesome!
I am so happy for good.you that Barbie approved. That Barbie is such a Diva with high style standards. Looks
Your porch looks too cute! Love the black and white toile on that awesome glider. I am jealous of your porch. I have always wanted one so I could decorate it. Just saw the monogrammed pumpkin and bucket you did – LOOOOOOOVE THEM!!! Seriously, they are just the cutest! Do you remember what font you used? I really like how it looks. Thanks!
This looks great. I am wanting to start sewing what type of machine would you suggest and what patterns do you use for your aprons?
Angie,>I used a curlz font on the pumpkin and bucket!
Queenbee,>I am the last person on the planet to recommend a sewing machine. My mom bought me the one I have for Christmas one year. All I know is that it is a ‘Janome’ and it was inexpensive. I wouldn’t spend alot on a first time machine. As far as the aprons go, I don’t use a pattern. They are my own little creation! thx.
Your front porch looks awesome. I love the toille! We have a huge wrap around porch with nothing but an umbrella stroller on it. LOL. Thanks for showing me what it could look like, Barbies and all!
hi >>I'm so glad I've found you too, being a makoever, trash loving blogger I really enjoyed reading your porch re-do, what a FABULOUS glider, wow I'd love to find one of those and what you did looks fantastic >>I also read, re-read & then read again your lazy slipcover tutorial, I am on the verge of thrifting a little 2 seater or large chair for my sitting room, I see so many on my thrifting adventures with the flowery fabric…I've dabbled with covering a chair but it was only two big cushions and it was fairly easy I thought a upholstered chair would be much more tricky, but actually you're excellend tutorial has kinda cemented it in my head and yeah I can do that and I'm gonna have a go, woohoo, thanks so much >>nice to meet you, I'm blogrolling you too>>Sarah
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love a good spray paint job! That looks great, love your blog, so happy I stopped by.
