Since we’ve been home, we’ve been doing ALOT of this…
Also, I’m making some aprons that I’ll be posting soon on etsy! They’ll be $25 each with free monogramming. Here’s a sneak peek of the unfinished product…
Things will be a changin’ around here…I will be taking on a new challenge of educating my kids at home. Yes, maybe I’ve lost my mind. No, it’s not because of the teacher or the school. I love, love, loved my daughter’s teacher. She always went the extra 10 miles, way above & beyond the call of duty. Really, she is the ONE you want teaching & influencing your kids. There are many reasons we’ve decided to do this, but mainly it fits our family’s schedule better. Although, I always wonder if it’s the best decision…I guess everyone does at some point. I’ve been getting lots of inspiration from other HS blogs like Trivium Academy, Smooth Stones Academy, Life with my 3 Boybarians, Mt. Hope Chronicles, My friend…and many more.
I’m getting excited & trying to get curriculum stuff together (since we start in a few weeks). Am I the only last minute mom to get stuff together? My kids are excited about the possibilities of learning & doing things that they wouldn’t normally get to do if in school…like guitar, horseback riding & hopefully visiting Gpa in Cali. I’ve also been turning half my studio into a school room/wall. We will probably never do school there, but it is a place for books, maps & to hang stuff. Every time I go in the studio…they come in because they want to sew too! My kids can’t even sit while eating dinner…they stand! I’ll post a picture of my studio/school room soon. Any advice on this new adventure would be surely appreciated! I give you full permission.
I’m looking forward to learning more about my kids, what makes them tick & where their creativeness takes them & me. I’m thinking I will probably start a homeschool blog…more for me to kinda keep track of our journey.
Exciting! I would love to get the girls together for a field trip! We would LOVE to go down for a beach day trip as we are talking about oceans. I can’t wait to see pics of your school room!
Great! I would love to read a new homeschooling blog. We are starting this year with our kindergartener, and even though I was homeschooled, it is a little daunting to be the teacher!>>p.s. I am a procrastinating parent as well; still getting curriculum together myself!>>Oh, and I can’t wait to see your etsy shop!
Congratulations on homeschooling! This is our 2nd year and we love it. There are bad days, just as there are with anything you do in life. However, the good definitely outweigh the bad. And the schedule is great. >>Advice, hmmmmm, I can only give what I know and that is to simplify as much as possible. We use the curriculum guidelines at http://www.simplycharlottemason.com and have found it to be a good fit for our family. Keep in mind that it is only a guideline. We veer from it when the need or want arises, but it has been a great framework for our learning. You can check out my blog (it’s a private one, s o if you’re interested just let me know) or send me an email if you have questions, or just want to chat.
Just breathe and take it one day at a time, I know that you are going to do great! You wont love every minute or even every day but the benefits are outstanding! I look forward to journeying with you!

Good for you for deciding to homeschool your children! I homeschooled my daughter for 1 year but it was the best year of our lives. You will get to know your children better than you ever thought. I’ll be praying for your little school.

Hi, I’m new to your blog. I love the stencil tees. I have the supplies but haven’t gotten around to using them yet. Good luck w/ homeschooling. Look forward to reading about how it’s going b/c I’m seriously considering it with my 3 year old.
Hi; i'm pretty new to your blog, but with the way you explain how-to's on your tutorials, I can tell you have a gift for teaching. I've been a homeschool mom for seven years now. My husband travels a lot and if we didn't homeschool, my youngest daughter wouldn't see her dad too often. (Our older kids are married and on their own and they travel with my husband in our business). It is intimidating, especially when they get into the older grades. Now I use ABeka DVD cirriculum, which is somewhat pricey, but worth the peace of mind that the kids can rewind and go over something again that you couldn't explain to them (like me with algebra or chemistry!) There are a lot of DVD schools out there if the time comes that you don't feel confident that you are the only teacher your kids need. Also, when I was teaching my youngest to read, I found new Dick and Jane books at Wal-Mart and Sam's clubs. I taught her phonics first, then used the Dick and Jane books to help teach her to speed read and it worked great! Good luck!
