Retro Bar Stools Found!

So…I was out thrifting and found these 2 retro yellow barstools. Yellow is NOT my color…So I got some of this…

with my FAV fabric and did this…a little recover!

I love this iron-on vinyl. I’ve only been able to find it at Joann’s Fabric. They also sell it by the yard. Just iron on the vinyl to your fav fabric and tah-dah…kid proof / stain proof! It’s not super high gloss vinyl and comes in a matte (not so shiny). Better to iron on vinyl than get your favorite fabric all yucky with kiddie food stains!

  1. Absolutely super cute!!!! My MIN has some and they never have been my style, but in toile they are to die for!!!! Super cute!!!! I love your blog!!!!

  2. I found you thru the comment you left on the “nester”. Your blog is great! I envy your sewing talent.I especially love your trash to treasure projects.

  3. I love your site here. So creative! Thanks for stopping by. I am in the process of trying to get back my old blog posts again which had all of my crafty artsy homeschooling projects, which I have lost again.Homeschooling/unschooling is an amazing thing for our family and cannot imagine life any other way.

  4. What an ingenious idea! I wish I had this when we had upholstered dining chairs – I just kept towels on them when the kids ate..it wasn’t very pretty! Thanks for sharing – your stools look great!

  5. I wandered over here from nesters site, too. Thanks for the education about iron on vinyl. I had no idea that stuff existed but now I feel I MUST use it on something! 🙂 Well, I’m off to read more!

  6. What a fantastic project! I love it! Yesterday, I showed a painting/recovering project using an old sewing stool. But it involves bright yellow so don’t look. 😉

  7. What a transformation! I have never heard of iron-on vinyl, but I know I will be using it now! It sort of looks like oil-cloth, which I love to use, but have a hard time finding a variety of patterns. Now I can make my own version. Thanks for the great idea!

  8. I just bought some of this at JoAnn’s, but have yet to use it because I’m one of those crafters that buys stuff just because it looks neat and then it sits in my craft closet for a few years before I get fed up with my cornucopia of unfinished projects and sell everything at a garage sale. You’ve inspired me, though, and now I’m going to go start a tote bag using my iron on vinyl. I may or may not finish it, but at least I’ll have used the vinyl.I LOVE what you did with those stools.

  9. How did you cover the top of the barstool with the vinyl?? Just wondering cause all the iron on vinyl that I found was on 17″? I didn’t think that would be wide enough to cover the seat? Thanks
