I’m her to update y’all on how hard this has been. First, I have not bought anything for myself at.all. Everything has come out of the grocery store. I’ve tried to schedule furniture pick up’s and deliveries on the same days. It has been challenging.
Like I said before…I have two girls that play soccer. We had a game 2 hours away and I didn’t pack anything to eat for after the game. So we ended up eating out…it was Wendy’s and it was from the .99 cent menu. Actually, she only wanted a frosty and a strawberry tea, not the water I did pack.
I’ve had friends over for dinner and they brought the wine. Holla! And I cannot tell a lie, I did buy something for myself…a bottle of wine. I know it’s not a necessity, but at the time…I felt like it was very necessary;o)
I hope to get better at this no spending thing, but overall…it has made me more conscious of where my dollar goes. I’m trying to re-create some of our favorite recipes that we love when we go out…like spaghetti carbonara! Anyone have a yummy spaghetti carb recipe? Please share! Tonight, there is no soccer practice for either girl and it’s our traditional Taco Night / Psych Night. We watch Psych on Netflix together. I love Sean’s references to 80’s trivia…makes me laugh. Goes right over the top of their heads, but they love his witty sarcasm.
We are working toward a goal of being able to go to Busch Gardens Howl-O-scream in October. Anyone know of any discount tickets? Thanks for all your support! You guys rock. I’m off to deliver a sofa, pin-fit a sofa and pick up a chair. I’m booked for the rest of September, but accepting clients for October now. Get your slipcovers before the holidays sneak up on ya! Only 98 days left until Christmas!
Not sure of any discount tickets to Howl O Scream but if you buy tickets for one day, you get the rest of the year's admission for free. I think they start that promotion in April or May even so that's a good deal.
oh! Thanks so much! I found discount tix on 'retail me not” $14 off each ticket. Used the discount code and it worked. There are $36 tix thru livingsocial.com…but only for Friday's and Sunday's:0(
We can now start calling you Thrifty Kristi, and it is a compliment! Way to go. Keep it up. Glad your business is rolling along. I hear you on the wine being a necessity thing. Kinda like chocolate. They are essentials.
I had two years of living like this, after my husband was laid off. I got a bit depressed I think. Might have been easier had we been working towards a fun goal, but instead it was just to be able to eat. Things are better now.
The whole experience had a rather less than wonderful impact on me in that I now splurge a bit too much. Before husband was laid off I was very frugal, very careful with my grocery shopping, didn't spend a lot on myself at all etc. Since the two years of forced NOTHING on myself and having to look at every cent in the grocery store (and sometimes having to hold back the tears as I was walking through the store, becasue I couldn't afford the good food I wanted for my family) it almost SICKENS me to have watch my money in the grocery store now, I want to splurge all the time, never want to have to compare prices!!
Think I am about ready to have a healthy balance again, cause we still are not rich, I don't need to be BLOWING my money. When I look at what I spend on food it is more than it should be (for the first time in 20yrs of marriage) so definitely, I am going to get back on track.
